Overview

S2 Intermedia, an internet agency that was ready reimagine themselves after 10 successful years in Munich, Germany. The task was to creating a new brand experience that would reflect customer needs as well as invoke the inspiration to work with us.

Role: UX Research, UX/UI Design, Brand design

Discovery

Part I

I realized early on, that before we could solve the problem of who we wanted to be, we had to understand what kind of clients we were attracting and who we wanted to attract. The goal was to create an experience that would bring in a variety of clients that elevated the agency into a new era.

Part II

One of our first workshops was to identify where we stood in Munich agency market and where we wanted to be. We had in-person and video chat questionnaires with our closes clients asking them for the pros & cons that they experience while working with us. Based on our initial research we came up with user personas as well as a person that described our agency

Part III

Getting the new name right was an important step in the process, which involved everyone in the agency as well as our close clients. The new name Format D comes from a German saying “being of format.” This means somewhat means being minimalist and having a standardized way of living.

The Solution

The basis of the experience comes from “getting back to basics” in design. This means having a simple pallet that consist of the primary shades of black & white to emphasis our secondary colors that were based on the CMYK pallet. Finally we have simple shapes that are used in design, like: line, triangle, square, and rectangles. It was most important to keep the agency’s character, while emphasizing their clients.
